Kona Cotton- Blocks Assembly

It is my first time working with Kona Cotton solid fabric, and I purchased the complete set of charm packs recommended for the entire pattern.

The pattern was affordable, and I immediately downloaded it and printed it out. It is another easy-to-follow pattern using mostly half-triangle, square, and flip methods.

I'm not strictly following the colour suggested on the fabric board by the designer, but I'm very close to it. To facilitate the assembling of so many blocks per month, including this pattern, I've precut all the outer pieces of the outer part of the quilt. While I worked on the inner block each month, I decided to piece five blocks as I needed to catch up with my planning.

Block 1-January

Block 2- February

Block 3-March

Block 8- August

Block 12-December

Also, I will not sew each block separately by the month but by a colour group: Red/orange, Yellow/lime, green/blue, blue/purple, brown/black. All my seams are pressed opened.

PLAY CARD #2- Quilted

The Play Card top was done on the Cutie Frame, and I kept an easy, wavy motion pattern. It doesn't take as long, even if I have to move the quilt three times to the left, repeatedly removing and unlocking the clamps. The tedious process of quilting was paired with an excellent audiobook, and voila, it's done!

I sewed the label with its essential information on the back of the quilt; otherwise, I must remember when I completed it. For the backing, I used fabric that my mother purchased at one of the manufacturers in Montreal in the late 80s. When she passed away, I brought her stash of fabric home, and I never thought I would use the butterflies' fabric for backing. There were seven yards of it! Thank You, Mom :)
