Project 4: Sew Symbolic

The quilt was made as a gift to my husband who is a weather technician.  It quilted it at the  Sparrow Studio after taking a class with him.  It was exceptionally fun! To bad the studio is too far away from my home; otherwise, I would be there more often. A good thing....maybe not.

After several trials with treads and crayons, I became frustrated because the symbols weren't showing at all when the quilt was at a distance. I couldn't come up with another idea and gave it to my husband this Christmas as is.  After further consideration, we decided to use a black Sharpie and write over the unseen quilted symbols. It's a wall quilt, not going to be washed too often.

It is a weather symbols chart. I started this project about three years ago and tried to work on it every time my husband was on the road.  He was very happy. There are loops at the top so he can hang it on a wall.

Scapbooking!!

Long Winters are fun for one thing: Finished previous projects or start new ones.
A few years ago I purchased a few albums, paper, very basic stuff for scrapbooking, but I hadn't a clue what to do with it.

My creativity seemed to be limited to quilting. Fortunately for me, someone offered to start my scrapbooking for me and was delighted. I recently claimed my album back because the ladies at our church are having a "Night Craft", giving the perfect opportunity to share our skills in that direction.

With so many quilts, wall quilts, and small projects I sewed and really not a place to display them, it came to the realization, I couldn't even delight in seeing them or showcase them when people are coming over. Also, some of my quilts were donated or given as gifts. So the idea of taking pictures of my quilts and putting them into a scrapbook was the perfect solution.

It's a start anyway.
